How to write a great matrimony profile

A step-by-step guide to writing a matrimony profile that gets thoughtful interests: About Me, photos that work, and what to leave out.

Start with the basics, honestly

Fill in every basic detail – age, height, education, work, family type and native place. Families read these first, and an incomplete profile is skipped more often.

Write an About Me of 4–6 sentences

Say what you do, what a normal weekend looks like, what you value in family life, and what you hope for in a partner. Specific beats generic: “I teach maths in Shimla and spend Sundays trekking to Jakhu” says more than “I am simple and caring”.

Use 3 to 6 clear, recent photos

One clear face photo in daylight as the main photo, one full-length photo, and one doing something you enjoy. Avoid group photos, heavy filters and sunglasses.

Mention family, briefly

A line about your family – joint or nuclear, where they live, what your parents do – helps both families feel comfortable from the start.

Leave out contact details

Do not add your phone number, email or social links in your profile. On HimJodi, numbers are shared only when both people agree.

Questions

How long should a matrimony About Me be?

Four to six sentences (about 80–150 words) is enough to show who you are without losing the reader.
